Couture Counseling

So recently I have lost a lot of weight, I have lost over 50lbs. I am so super excited about this accomplishment. I decided to treat myself I start updating my wardrobe. I went to the mall, the boutiques and the consignment shops to find new and interesting pieces. I ended up spending quite a bit, but I felt as though it was worth it, seeing, as I haven’t bought any new clothes in over a year.
I arrived home with the bags in tote, and laid them on the bed to sort through them all. As I was trying to find hangers, I realized that my closet was so over stuffed. I decided that it would be a good idea to throw some things away. So I tried on what seemed to be hundreds of pieces and I had three piles: keepers, menders and throw-a-ways.
As I was finishing up I saw that the trash bag of clothes that I was throwing away was very big, but I didn’t think anything of it as I placed it outside so my dad would know that I wanted it to go with the trash. It was actually my sister who suggested I donate the clothes to charity, since most of them were still in good shape.
I contacted a local shelter and took the clothes over there. I arrived there and I decided to look around since I had never been there before. I found a young man who was on his way to a job interview, but he sadly looked a mess. I offered to dress him in some of my old clothes. He ended up look amazing.
I could see in his face, that he felt good about himself and wasn’t as nervous about the interview as he was before. I don’t know if it was really the clothes that made him feel better or me hanging out with him, but he was so much happier to know that I cared. A new outfit can change how you and sometimes put a smile on your face.
I encourage all of you, that are able, to give some clothes to charity. It will not only help other but I will make you feel better.

“The weather outside is frightful…”

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow

It’s not just a holiday song but truly how it feels outside. I was watching The Weather Channel and it seems that this will be one of the coldest winter’s on record, (So what happened to Global Warming?) but that doesn’t mean that you can’t be stylish and fierce even while trying to stay warm.

The trick is layering; first because it look much better than wearing a big bubble coat and second because it is the preferred method for staying warm during cold weather. The first thing that we think about during cold weather is the coat; this one essential item will be with you throughout the entire winter. I subscribe to the idea that a man really only NEEDS one great coat. Please make note that I said needs, personally I have three winter coats.

Scotch & Soda Pea Coat

If you are only able to afford one coat, I would suggest either a Classic Trench Coat or a Navy Pea Coat. These two options allow for a versatile option for use. A trench is always going to look great and you can wear it every since day of the week. The Navy Pea Coat actually can be worn with casual, professional or formal clothing.

Diesel Trench Coat

You can choose from three different lengths when purchasing winter coats: waist, mid and full lengths. The longer the coat the more formal it is. If you are choosing to purchase only one coat, then I would suggest a mid length because you will get the most wear out of it. It should go without saying but the basic black is always in style and complements pretty much everything.

Yes, the coat is the most important item, but there are three winter accessories items that should incorporated into every well-dressed man’s wardrobe: hat, scarf and gloves. Because of the use and wear that you will get out of these items during the winter season, it is important to big high quality items.

Price is always a concern, especially with the way the economy going right now. Many may not feel it necessary to spend a lot of money on these items, but instead chose to buy them from Wal-Mart. What you don’t understand is that, you will have to replace a cheap glove quite often, whereas a quality glove will last multiple seasons. At the end of the day, you are saving yourself money when buying higher quality items.

What to Wear for Thanksgiving Dinner

There are many that toil over what they should wear for the big Thanksgiving feast and those that don’t toil, you probably should be. This is the big sit down dinner, with a lot of friends and family coming over and you are probably eating it in the formal dinning are; so yes THIS IS A BIG DEAL!!!!

There are two things that you will want to consider when planning that Thanksgiving look: form and function. Because everyone will see you in this outfit and you will be taking pictures in this out fit. Those pictures are going to be shared with numerous people, some of which you probably won’t know. And last but perhaps most importantly, you will have to eat wearing this outfit. You are going to be in this look for the better part of four to six hour and you might even take a nap in the look depending on the cook.

For form you want to ask a few question. What is the over all theme of the look? What is the cut of the piece? How do I look in it? How will other people perceive me in the look?

For form consider: What will you be doing in the look? How long are you going to be in the look? Who will see the look?

Since it is fall and temperature will also be a concern, I would go for a sweater. The classic sweater, worn not-so-classically can really look good. It is a comfortable piece and fits the style of many different people. Always remember that good design is always in style.

But please don’t wear that sweater that look tattered, worn out and out of shape. It looks a sloppy and makes you look as if you didn’t even care about what you looked like at Thanksgiving dinner, and yes people will notice.

How you wear your sweater is an entirely personal experience that will always reflect your style and tastes. Please remember layering is key. Ladies might opt for the v-neck cut and pair with with a classic white shirt and high waisted pant. Males can try the with a blazer and jeans. It really all looks good.

How ever you choose to wear you sweater this Thanksgiving be sure that you wear it well and it is you. Because at the end of the day you have to feel comfortable in the look. So have fun and try out a few thing but make sure that you are the so fierce in the process.

My first Post

I want to take the time and introduce myself to my readers. I am a fashionistador. Wikipedia defines fashionistador as a term applies to a person that is often wearing the ‘in’ clothes , but quite often applies to a personal mode of expression that may or may not apply to all. Inherent in the term is the idea that the mode will change more quickly than the culture as a whole.

I am here to help. I believe that looking good is a step in feel good. No one want to stand out for the wrong reason. And don’t get me wrong, this is not like those TV makeover shows that tell you are stupid and have no taste. I am in the opinion that every has a type of fashion they prefer, my job is to help you pull that together into a cohesive style. Because fashion is simply clothing but style is everything else.

A lot of people don’t understand how they look to other or what their body shape is and I have that knowledge to give. Let’s be real, mirrors lie and truthfully so do we.

So I am here to help.
